Letter from the President
I was delighted to see the large crowd at the May 6th HOA general
meeting. It certainly made all of us on the panel stand up and take
notice! I think changing the weeknight was helpful as many more
turned out for this meeting.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for taking such an active interest
in your neighborhood. It was a great informational meeting. Please
plan to attend the next one in August. We will give continued updates
on the progress of the front entrance and the transition of developer
to the HOA in that meeting. (date TBD)
One of the announcements at the May 6 meeting was that Valerie
Ragsdale hasstepped down as HOA Vice President. We are sad to be
losing her but do understand.
When we all took these voluntary positions we thought it was to
make a few decisions on flowers and to watch over the day to day
operation of the community -- just a few hours a week. Little did
we realize that because of the mess the Bosley Group left us in,
it took almost two years of weekly Board meetings and countless
smaller ones to put our HOA in the proper direction.
Besides the weekly Board meetings, Valerie and I often met several
times a week to have contracts drawn, put together a team for the
website, review urgent concerns, and deal with other issues that
needed immediate attention. Besides the meetings, there is a constant
stream of e-mails and phone calls requiring some thought and a reply.
I say all this not to complain but to explain why she stepped down
she just couldn't devote the time anymore.
The entire Board has worked hard to make your community the best
it can be and will continue to do so. We will miss Valerie's attention
to detail, her wit, her eye for design and the many fresh ideas
she brought to the table. Thank you Valerie for your hard work and
love for your community. We will miss you very much.
Beth Taylor has agreed to take Valerie's last 6 months. Beth had
run for the area rep position in November but lost a seat on the
panel by only a few votes. She is your newsletter editor and if
she brings to the HOA what she has done for our newsletter we will
be blessed again by another wonderful volunteer. We hope she will
consider running again in November as your area representative.
Welcome aboard, Beth.
We also want to thank the neighborhood watch committee for your
attendance and hard work. The neighborhood watch signs will be going
up in the near future. All of you should get involved as we are
all affected by crime even when we are not the victims.
I will close and thank those of you who send kind words to us as
your HOA panel. Your thanks for our hard work on many days makes
a difference. For those who we offend or make mad by following procedure
I am sorry. We only want to keep your property values up.
Remember to pick up your dog poop and get approval in advance for
any outside home improvements, landscaping and tree removal. Contact
information is on the website: www.southbridgehomeowners.org or
on the back page of this newsletter every month.
Until next time, may the
Lord Bless and Keep You.
